BYD Sealion 7 & Sealion 6 Philippines: Price, Range
By EVChargePH Team · October 12, 2026 · 8 min read

BYD sells two Sealion SUVs in the Philippines, and they are very different cars. The Sealion 7 is a fully electric, dual-motor AWD crossover launched in May 2026 at ₱2,588,000, with an 82.6 kWh battery and up to 542 km of claimed range. The Sealion 6 DM-i is a plug-in hybrid at ₱1,548,000 that can run short trips on electricity and longer ones on petrol.
If you can charge at home and want a true EV, the Sealion 7 is the one. If you want lower running costs without depending on public chargers, the Sealion 6 DM-i is the easier first step.
What is the BYD Sealion 7?
The Sealion 7 is BYD's midsize electric crossover, and it targets buyers looking at the Tesla Model Y. It was previewed at the 2026 Manila International Auto Show and officially launched by BYD Cars Philippines distributor ACMobility on 28 May 2026.
There is one local variant, the AWD Performance. Key numbers from the launch:
- Price: ₱2,588,000
- Battery: 82.6 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) Blade battery
- Motors: dual-motor AWD with a rear bias, about 523 hp and 690 Nm combined
- 0-100 km/h: 4.5 seconds (claimed)
- Range: up to 542 km (claimed)
- Size: 4,830 mm long on a 2,930 mm wheelbase, with 163 mm ground clearance
- Cargo: 500 L with the rear seats up, 1,769 L folded, plus a 58 L front trunk
The cabin has a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a 12-speaker Dynaudio system, ventilated front seats and a panoramic roof. The ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping and blind-spot detection.
How fast does the Sealion 7 charge?
This is where the Sealion 7 suits Philippine charging well. It supports:
- AC charging up to 11 kW. BYD quotes roughly 16 hours from 15% to 100% at that rate. In practice most home setups here are 7 kW, so plan on an overnight charge rather than a quick top-up.
- DC fast charging up to 150 kW. BYD quotes 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes, which is enough for a coffee break on an expressway trip.
BYD includes a 7 kW wall-mounted charger and a portable 7 kW charging cable with the car. You will still need a licensed electrician to check your panel and run a dedicated circuit. Our home charging setup guide walks through what to ask for.
For trips, remember that the 150 kW figure is the car's maximum. You only get it at a charger that can deliver that much, and many public DC units in the Philippines are rated lower. Use the EVChargePH map to check a charger's power before you plan a stop around it.
Does the Sealion 7 have V2L?
Yes. The Sealion 7 has vehicle-to-load (V2L) and comes with an adapter, so you can run small appliances or charge devices from the battery. With an 82.6 kWh pack, that is a useful backup during typhoon-season brownouts. See our guide on using V2L during a brownout for what it can and cannot safely power.
What is the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i?
The Sealion 6 DM-i is BYD's plug-in hybrid compact SUV, priced at ₱1,548,000. It uses BYD's Super DM-i system: an 18.3 kWh LFP Blade battery and an electric motor drive the front wheels, and a 1.5-litre petrol engine mostly acts as a generator and backup.
What that means in practice:
- Short trips can be fully electric. In EV mode it can run up to 105 km/h without burning petrol, so a typical Metro Manila commute can often be done on battery alone if you charge regularly.
- Long trips use petrol as a backup. BYD quotes a combined range of over 1,000 km, so you can drive to the provinces without planning around chargers.
- It seats five and rides on 19-inch wheels.

Sealion 7 vs Sealion 6: which should you buy?
The two share a name, but they suit different buyers.
Choose the Sealion 7 if:
- You can install a home charger, or you have reliable charging at work or your condo.
- You want zero tailpipe emissions and the lowest running costs per kilometre.
- You want performance and space. It is the bigger, much faster car.
- Your budget stretches to around ₱2.6 million.
Choose the Sealion 6 DM-i if:
- You don't have home charging yet, or you often drive long provincial routes.
- You want to drive mostly on electricity around town without worrying about range.
- You want a family SUV for about ₱1 million less.
A simple rule: if you can plug in every night, go Sealion 7. If you can't, the Sealion 6 DM-i is the safer bet. Both use LFP Blade batteries, which tolerate regular charging to full and Philippine heat well.
How does the Sealion fit in BYD's Philippine lineup?
BYD now covers most price points in the Philippines, from the Dolphin and Atto 2 at the entry level, through the Atto 3 and Seal, to the Sealion 7 and the flagship Tang. The Sealion 7 is effectively the SUV version of the Seal sedan's performance pitch, while the Sealion 6 DM-i gives buyers who are not ready for a full EV a way into the brand. Our BYD Philippines guide covers the whole range.
How much will it cost to run a Sealion 7?
It depends on where you charge. Home charging at your Meralco or local utility rate is usually the cheapest. Public DC fast charging costs more per kWh but is still often competitive with petrol for the same distance. Put your own electricity rate and monthly mileage into the EV savings calculator to compare the Sealion 7 against a petrol SUV you're considering.
Before you buy
- Confirm the current price and promos with a dealer. Launch prices and financing offers change, and BYD has been opening new dealerships across Luzon and Mindanao.
- Book a test drive of both Sealions back to back. The Sealion 7's power is very different from the Sealion 6's relaxed hybrid feel.
- Sort out charging first. Check your home's electrical capacity, and look for public chargers along your usual routes on the map.
